WILSON BASEBALL FAMILY HIT HARD - MARC MERRILL UPDATE - Many of you know Marc Merrill from his countless hours taking photos and supporting some of the best sports programs in town...starting at ELB, and moving on to include Long Beach Pony, Heartwell Pony, Long Beach Wilson Baseball, Football, and Cheerleading, plus many other programs.
Marc has been battling a long and hard fight against the dreaded foe cancer. His family and freinds have supported him courageously throughout the fight, and he has remained a strong, caring, and confident man throughout the ordeal.
Unfortunately, the battle is nearly over and the result is very clear. The Merrill family has posted the following information on their CareBridge site Wednesday morning (7/28):
Earlier this evening Marc was moved from Wells House hospice in Stanton/Anaheim to a nursing home with hospice care in Huntington Beach.
He is currently at Sea Cliff Health Care. The address is 18811 Florida Street in Huntington Beach, 92648. He is in room 134 bed A.
Visiting hours are from 8am - 8pm. The staff said visitors are allowed after hours, but just not tons of people at a time as the patients have roommates.
Feel free to visit Marc at Sea Cliff. Please keep in mind that he has been sleeping significantly more in the past few days, which can make for an uneventful visit if you catch him during a nap.
Quick update:
We met with the hospice team earlier today. Based on Marc's symptoms it appears that he only has a couple of days to a week left to live. Thank you all for your love and continued support over the past 9 years as Marc and our family traveled the long and trying journey of living with cancer.
Thank you for your continued love and support for Marc as well as the rest of our family.
Love, Caren, Melissa, and Victor
We will continue to provide the latest info from the family, as it becomes available.

It was another team effort by the BruCrew with key hits by Daniel DeWolf, Soloman Williams, Tim Richards, Matt Heavin, Ryan Emma and Stefan Miladovich in the 6-3 win. The Bruins will face the same San Bernardino team that they beat on Sat in game #1 and last years State Champ. Wilson is one win away from advancing to the Region 8 tournament in Las Vegas. SB who was in the same spot last year will need to beat the Bruins twice if they hope to advance.
SUNDAY-BRUINS WIN EXTRA INNING MARATHON TO STAY IN THE WINNERS BRACKET. - 11 innings, 32 total hits & 4 1/2 hours later the Bruins prevailed, 12-9 on Sunday afternoon with a total team effort. Visitors for the 2nd day in a row, the Bruins got on the board first with 2 runs in the 1st. Sean Buckle took the mound and gave one back with a home-run from the lead off batter. Bruin bats came back out in the 2nd with a 2 run homer by Buckle followed by a 2 run homer by Soloman Williams to give Wilson a 6-1 lead. Daniel DeWolf stayed hot going 4 for 4 with 3 walks, Riley Parker went 3 for 6 with 3 RBI's, Stefan Miladovich went 2 for 4 and the Bruins got key RBI hits by Ryan Emma and Tyler Vaughn when they needed it the most. Buckle worked behind most of the day but managed to leave after 7 with 10 strike-outs and a 7-4 lead, handing the ball to Britt Barmayer. After 2 walks and some timely hits, Merced was back in business and managed to tie the game eventually in the bottom of the 9th at 8-8 after Ryan Emma had given the Bruins another run in the top. Ty Provenchar came in to finish the 9th and a stellar defensive play by Daniel DeWolf saved the game & got them into extra innings. The 10th came and went for both teams. The Bruins came back up in the 11th sending 9 batters to the plate. With bases loaded and 1 out, Tyler Vaughn had a clutch hit to put the BruCrew ahead 9-8 to load the bases again. Buckle hit a triple to clear the bases to make it 12-8. Provenchar for the 2nd day in a row, shut the door in the bottom of the 11th after giving up a run. Wilson bats were held pretty quiet except for Soloman Williams with 3 dbls and 4 RBI's on the day while Daniel DeWolf who went 3 of 4 with a walk. Stefan Miladovich and Sean Buckle added singles to the cause. The Bruins were cruising until the 8th with a 5-0 lead when the San Bernardino bats came alive and they scored 4 runs. Wilson came to bat in the 9th. With 2 on, Williams got his 3rd double of the day scoring Buckle and DeWolf to put the game at 7-4. Ty Provenchar came in to close the game out, giving up 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th, then shutting the door with a pop fly to finish the game. Final score 7-6.
